Vitamin C benefits are numerous and is the most widely taken dietary supplement. While it appears in many plant and animal foods, it is also available in many commercially-produced forms such as capsules, caplets, tablets, softgels, drink mix packets and powder.

It is also needed to maintain and repair cartilage, bones, and teeth.

Vitamin C has also been found to be a highly effective antioxidant. It therefore has been found to be a potent protector of body molecules from damage by free radicals and reactive oxygen species. Said free radicals are normally generated during metabolism that are transformed into toxins which may bring damage to many parts of the body.

Vitamin C is likewise required to process carnitine, which is a molecule needed for conveying fat to cells for energy conversion. Research has also suggested that vitamin C may be involved in the cholesterol metabolism.

A deficiency of Vitamin C can lead to the potentially fatal disease called scurvy. The symptoms of scurvy include pain in the joints, bleeding and bruising easily, as well as Vitamin C Benefitshair and tooth loss.
