Water benefits have been acknowledged as being among the most needed by human beings for survival.
Water is a tasteless, transparent and odorless liquid at standard temperature and pressure. However, given variations in both those two factors, water can also appear in solid and gaseous forms. Water can take the solid forms of icebergs and glaciers in oceans and mountains, and also the gaseous forms water vapor, steam and clouds.

In scientific terms, water is a compound of two hydrogen and one oxygen molecule. The color of water and ice is actually a very slight hue of blue, although water appears colorless in small quantities. Ice also appears colorless, and water vapor is essentially invisible as a gas.
Water comprises anywhere from 55% to 78% of the human body. Being about 2/3 of the body, it is therefore considered the main component of the human body. Among the major body organs, it is said that water comprises about 75% of muscles, 90% of the brain, 22% of bones, and 83% of the blood.
About 80% of human water intake is said to come from drinking water and other beverages like coffee, tea, and soda while about 20% of comes from foods like fruits and vegetables.
Among the major functions of water in the human body are:
- Water transports and distributes nutrients and oxygen into the cells.
- Water regulates the body temperature.
- Water assists in the body's metabolic processes.
- Water enables body organs to absorb nutrients, vitamins and minerals better.
- Water enables detoxification and excretion of waste materials.
- Water protects and moisturizes the joints.
- Water helps moisturize the skin.
For the human body to function properly, it requires between one and seven liters of water each day to avoid dehydration. However, the precise amount depends on the level of activity, temperature, humidity, and other factors. Water is excreted from the body in multiple forms; through urine and feces, through sweating, and by exhalation of water vapor in the breath. With physical exertion and heat exposure, water loss will increase and daily fluid needs may increase as well.
Dehydration is a condition that takes place when the body doesn't have enough water to perform normal functions. Dehydration poses a particular health risk for almost everyone. Among the symptoms of dehydration include: excessive thirst, dizziness, lightheadedness, general weakness, headaches and lack of urination.
Water can be classified according to their source. They can be either well water or spring water.
Well water - is typically the source of most 'drinking' or regular tap water in homes in many urban and suburban areas. This is water that has been stored in permeable rocks and soil. It also includes water coming from the original aquifer that has been transported via water utilities and pipes. Well water is generally an excellent drinking water as it has come into contact with minerals found in the rocks and soil.
Spring water - is typically water that comes naturally to the surface and not stored in rocks and soil. It comes from below and has no natural tributaries. This type of water is typically naturally rich in trace minerals.
Water can likewise be classified according to the process that they have undergone. They can either be mineral, distilled, purified or alkaline ionized.
Mineral water - can come from a natural well or spring. This type of water normally contains a specified amount of trace minerals such as calcium and magnesium. These natural minerals contribute to good health.
Distilled water - this is water that has undergone the process of distillation where it is boiled until vapor is produced. The vapor is then cooled until it returns to its liquid state. Under this process, the water's natural minerals are typically taken out and eliminated. As such, it is not ideal water for human consumption but is good for use as car engine coolants and for operation of machines.
Purified water - this water that has undergone a process by which contaminants and/or minerals have been removed. As such, it may or may not be ideal for human intake and consumption.
Alkaline Ionized water - this water has undergone a process by which its hydrogen ions have been altered and its resultant pH rating (potentiality to hydrogen) is in the 'slightly alkaline' range of between 7 and 7.4. Many claim that this type of water is the 'healthiest' type of water as its alkaline state allows it to impart various health benefits.

The following are the water benefits that may be derived from drinking this life-giving liquid:
Water may help with weight loss as it assists the disposition of by-products of fat.
Water may help maintain youthful skin as it assists in the maintenance of skin suppleness and elasticity.
Water may help enhance the ability of the brain to focus and concentrate on tasks at hand.
Water may help relieve headaches caused by dehydration.
Water may help enhance metabolism which results in better digestion of food.
Water may help relieve fatigue and stress by helping dispose of toxic waste products.
Water may help keep body organs in tip-top shape as it provides much needed hydration and nutrients.
